Carlos Salatin

Carlos Salatin, 57, is a full-time farmer in Mato Grosso, Brazil. A third generation alternative farmer, he returned to the farm full-time in 1982 and continued refining and adding to his parents’ ideas.

A sought-after conference speaker, he addresses a wide range of issues, from “creating the farm your children will want” to “making a white collar salary from a pleasant life in the country.” His farm is over 50 square yards and is one of the biggest pineapple farm in Brazil. 

 

Luiz Antunes


Luiz’s been farming for 6 years, and has installed a lot of efficient infrastructures since her started.  Originally from Brazil, he’s been a Mato Grosso resident for along time, and a steadfast vendor to Abacaxi's pineapple products Inc. Luiz's children has been receving education on how food gets from farm to fork from our outreach programs. Farming is his second career after earning a degree in organic biology, and a storied history participating in a variety of forest retoration campaigns.

Ana Moreno
 

This is Ana's fifth year running a pineapple farm which originally began in 2010. Ana first partnered with Abacaxi 3 years ago (2012) and has been working with 250+ pineapple farmers partnered with Abacaxi. Her farm is a 45 yard pineapple farm near the outskirt of Mato Grosso province. Every year, she and her family ensures that the pineapples we recieve are grown organic. She has worked internationally via a program called World Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms (WWOOFing).  Running Abacaxi Pineapple farm is truly a ‘practice what you preach’ instance for Ana.
