Established by a Brazillian farm co-op located in the Mato Grosso province, the fledging organization soon became a conglomerate as Abacaxi grew to 40 farms by early 2004. This massive growth was headed by Mr. Marco Ribiero, one of the original six farms whose vision for consolidating farms that specialized in pineapple led to his appointment as President of the corporation in 2006.
Abacaxi took its business plan to a new level in 2004 when it purchaed a processing plant outside of São Paulo and began selling processed pineapple products to local grocery stores.
Abacaxi took its growth one step further in 2005 when it started exporting producs to neighbouring countries in South America. Since Abacaxi went public in 2006, analysis have watched the organization with intense interest and expect stock to continue to grow as abacaxi expands.
